Short Hills Home
Project managed under principal designer Danielle Palmadessa - Project won bronze in ASID Design Excellence Awards

After moving into their older style home in 2006, our clients knew they would be planning a large renovation project in the future. Fast forward ten years and two teenagers later, this family’s need for more space became a necessity in addition to the desire for a modern redesign of the existing spaces. The family also entertains frequently and needed plenty of seating and gathering areas throughout. The rooms we were commissioned to work on comprised the entire first floor including the foyer, living room, dining room, powder room, butler pantry, kitchen, and family room.
The new plan would now include a large addition onto the back of the house which would give the client a larger kitchen, butler pantry, bathroom and a new family room. The home flows openly from the entry to the back of the new addition, with large passageways and a lot of natural light flowing through. This caused the main design challenge to become implementing a sense of overall cohesiveness. The client’s love for satin brass plumbing fixtures for her future kitchen became the jumping off point for the project’s consistent color palette of various shades of greys, whites, blacks, and metallics. Additionally, the large amount of light lead us to be able to do more dramatic and unique accent light fixtures in each of the rooms.
By incorporating important principles of interior design, each room flows seamlessly
from one room to another, creating a glamorous and functional living space for this growing family.
