Storycorps

StoryCorps is a story recording nonprofit that we designed a headquarters for in Vanderbilt Hall in Grand Central Station. Initially I created a large sound wave like structure that a person could walk in and interact with. The homasote covered walls are far enough apart to create walkways to embedded program spaces such as the recording booths and listening spaces. The homasote as well as the 10 degree rotation of the pieces are being used in order to absorb the sounds from the main concourse/42 street walkway. The walk ways and structural details are red in order to connect back to the warm colors used by the company as well as add color to the space.
